ndustry customers often wonder about the deviation of test readings between the AEM CV-100 Cable Certification Analyzer and Fluke DSX2-8000 series testers. To address this concern, engineers from Linoya carried out a head-to-head comparison test using identical cables on both instruments, with objective measured data as the benchmark.

Test Preparation
The test bench consisted of an AEM CV-100 mainframe with matching channel test modules, plus a Fluke DSX-series tester of equivalent grade. To deliver impartial comparison data, an extra Fluke DTX-1800 tester - widely recognized across the industry - was added as a reference unit.
Only one brand-new Fluke DSX-600 unit was available in stock, so standard Category 6 cables were selected as the test specimen for this round of evaluation. The diagram below illustrates the comparative test between the AEM CV-100 and Fluke DSX2-8000.
Test Procedure & Speed Metrics
One identical Category 6 cable was tested under two sets of specifications respectively: the TIA CAT6 Channel standard and China national standard GB 50312.
Full test cycle duration
The AEM CV-100 completes the full certification sequence in 5 seconds, while the Fluke tester takes 9 seconds to finish the identical workflow.
Both devices deliver acceptable test speeds for Cat 6 testing with minor gaps. When testing Cat 6A or Category 8 cables, however, the AEM unit gains a noticeable edge in scanning efficiency and runtime, which can drastically cut down testing hours for large-scale structured cabling projects.

Device boot-up performance
A clear contrast exists in cold-start speed between the two units:
Fluke averages a boot time of roughly 6 seconds, whereas the AEM CV-100 requires approximately 20 seconds to fully initialize. The lengthy boot process demands extra waiting time for operators. This discrepancy is an inherent and predictable outcome, as the two testers are built on entirely distinct hardware and software testing architectures.
Frequency-Domain Test Accuracy Analysis
Detailed analysis of readings across all frequency points shows the AEM CV-100 delivers far faster signal response over the full test spectrum. Slight numerical discrepancies against Fluke's measurements can be observed on partial electrical parameters at certain frequency bands.
Even so, all test values captured by the AEM CV-100 retain ample performance margin against the threshold limits defined by cabling standards within the full frequency range, generating reliable and trustworthy certification results.
